Ever since I became aware of Alexa Chung I have been completely enamored with her. It’s on with Alexa Chung may have been cancelled early on, in extremely premature fashion if you ask me, but it was on long enough for Chung to create her niche, ultimately leading her to become a fixture and icon in American popular culture. When I saw the show for the first time I knew that I was watching someone special. Though I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, I knew that she had a certain special quality about her. But then I figured things out, she had “it.” To define “it” is to try to define “hipster.” you know it exists, you can give endless examples, but when you have to, you can’t give a straight definition. Throughout this beautifully crafted book Chung takes the reader on a journey through her varying inspirations, the ones that have made her one of the most influential”it” girls of my generation. Whether it’s divulging her longstanding relationship with the liquid liner cat-eye or dishing on the issue of spandex, Alexa reminds the reader just why they love her so much. I’m that person, so once I started reading I couldn’t put this book down. It’s nice to pretend that you’re walking through the mind of an idol and with It, it’s an easy task! This book is just further proof that Chung is the witty, spunky, quick, impeccably dressed, and smart friend we all wish we had.
