Robin Kall has always been an avid reader.
As a child growing up on Long Island, she would devour Judy Blume novels that her favorite librarian, Mrs. DeWeese, would stash away for her. 1985 was the year that brought Robin to Rhode Island where she ultimately began hosting author events and merchandising several local bookstores. In 2002, after her time as a producer for local talk radio, it came as no surprise when she blended her passions to create the highly regarded radio show "Reading With Robin.” The program quickly spun off into community-focused author events that brought the likes of Jennifer Weiner, Claire Cooke, Courtney Sullivan, and Elin Hilderbrand to the state.
Over the years, Robin has become one of Rhode Island’s most prominent and outspoken voices in the fight against breast cancer. After the passing of her mother Carol in 1997, it became Robin’s mission to educate women on the importance of early detection and advocate for them as well. In 2009, Robin hosted her first Evening With Authors that has remained an annual fundraiser for these efforts. 2014 brought along the addition of Summer With Robin, which continues to benefit causes that are important to Robin.
From 2016-2020, Robin and her daughter Emily ran the 2x award-winning The Cardigan Connection (formerly Point Street Reading Series), which highlighted a diverse selection of voices. Since 2020 Robin has shifted her focus to bringing engaging digital content to readers across the nation on social media and other online platforms. Currently, she is a regular contributor to WPRI’s “The Rhode Show,” Hey Rhody’s “Rhody Reads” feature, The Covey Club, and AARP’s The Ethel.
