What started out as another crazy idea. 

Sitting around one lazy summer afternoon, Robin and Emily got to talking about bookish things, when the idea of a reading series came about. Events in Rhode Island had long been sparse and lacked a certain amount of diversity, community, engagement, and they were too serious. What transpired next was months of tireless planning, brainstorming, and reaching out all for something that remained an unproven concept in Rhode Island. With Robin’s decades of bookish experience and Emily’s background in publishing publicity, the Point Street Reading Series was born. For those who know Robin, know that creating something from nothing is where she truly flourishes. With her sandbag Emily in tow, the duo had a clear vision of what they wanted to build – a space when friends and strangers alike come together over books and authors for a solidly good time.

Since the Point Street first opened its stage in March 2016, the award-winning series has brought countless best-selling, award-winning, and highly regarded authors from across the world to Providence, Rhode Island. The Cardigan Connection now meets every third Tuesday via Facebook until it is deemed safe to host in-person events.
